Built on the site of the former Montgomery Block – San Francisco’s first earthquake and fire proof building – longtime home to the bohemian community, the Transamerica Pyramid was completed in 1972. The apex of the pyramid features a glassed space the size of a cubicle.
The Redwood Park at the base of the pyramid features redwood trees transplanted from the Santa Cruz Mountains, as well as a memorial to iconic Goldrush street dogs, Bummer and Lazarus.
