“That’s My Ride!” is a portrait of a specific San Francisco bus line. The 27 Bryant is a unique bus in a city famous for it’s unusual public transportation. It travels from the 24th and Mission BART station, across the residential parts of the Mission, past Costco and Foods Co, across Market, through the Tenderloin, up up up Knob Hill, past some of the toniest doorman buildings in town to end in Pacific Heights. It is emblematic of San Francisco itself; it is a site where everyone from all walks of life rub shoulders in an increasingly stratified and siloed city.
The bus and the riders were based on sketches done on the bus, as well as photo documentation of the actual busses running. It is built at 1’=1” scale, to the schematics of the New Flyer buses that are currently in service.
The first figure was created in 2023, the bulk of the rest of this piece was done in 2025-2026.
